Peninsula Dunecare is part of the national Bushcare movement which started in the suburbs of Sydney in the 1980s.
This environmental volunteer work (sometimes called Urban Landcare) occurs mostly on public land: in bushland, wetlands and around waterways managed by local councils or NSW government agencies. Environmental volunteering programs such as Bushcare have steadily grown since their inception and are now an accepted and successful partnership between many government land management organisations and community members.
Peninsula Dunecare is supervised by, and maintains a strong and positive relationship with Gosford City Council Bushcare. The Peninsula Dunecare group was established in early 2000′s and today has a large positive team of volunteers which has had a significant impact on the Dune’s health on the northern end of Ocean Beach.
Peninsula Dunecare meet the third Thursday of each from 9am to Midday and the first Saturday of each month 9.00am to Midday, at the intersection of Barrenjoey Rd and The Esplanade.
