The war in the Pacific takes a tum and the threat of invasion subsides, the airfield is now relegated as an Emergency Landing Ground, part of a network of strips along the east coast. While no planes were stationed full time, military aircraft used the airstrip for repairs and rest stops including American bomber crews who take a fancy to the beach lifestyle.
